Appointment Committee

The appointment committee decides on new professors at the chairs and is newly formed for each appointment. A committee consists of several professors, a research assistant, the Women’s Representative and at least one student representative and his/her deputy.

Together with the participating professors and staff members, a text for the call for applications for the new professorial positions is drawn up, the applications of the applicants are assessed and their lectures and sample lectures are discussed.

Subsequently, a judgement is made on the pedagogical abilities of the applicant. An appointment list is drawn up and submitted to the Faculty Council. If this is accepted, an appointment is made by the President of the University to the first 3 persons on the list. The applicant is free to accept or reject a call.

The exact procedure is described in the FAU guide to appointment committees (Intranet)
