June 25th 2022

Dear students,

It's that time again! The university elections are coming up. In this unscheduled newsletter we want to give you all the info you need about the election so you can make the most of your vote.

Why should you even vote? Of course, a large turnout makes sense in order to best represent the diverse opinions of the student body in the committees. However, there is another important reason; the higher the voter turnout, the more it shows the university that students really want to be heard and that the student representation (Stuve) should be taken seriously. Each and every one of you can thus play a part in strengthening the voice of the student body!

But what exactly are you voting for? The Student Council is a university-wide body in which 30 students develop positions in order to be able to communicate the opinions and demands of the student body to the outside world. Here you have 15 votes to elect people who can best represent your opinion in this body. In another election, you have 4 votes to elect students to the Faculty Council, where they can campaign for student-friendly examination regulations, for example. With these 4 votes you also indirectly determine the composition of the Faculty Student Counsil, which represents you at the faculty level by helping students with their requests, managing funds and organizing the occasional event. You can find out more about the committees in this year's election video (see below).

How exactly can you elect these representatives? You can do that from Monday 27.06. at 09:00 until Monday 04.07. at 09:00 online https://online-wahlen.fau.de/. Besides the better accessibility the election tool of the university also offers the advantage of giving you warnings in case you cast too many votes and thus might have invalidated your vote. You can then easily correct this and send your vote with a simple click.

And who should you vote for? That's a question we can't answer for you. However, we have provided a few tools to make it easier for you to research the election lists. First, you'll find plenty of insight and information about the lists that would like to be elected to the Student Counsil on our website and Instagram during the election period. In addition, you can use the University Election Compass again to compare your opinions on various issues with those of the Student Counsil lists and learn their motivations for doing so. Last but not least, we would like to introduce the lists to you in more detail in the next section.

We hope we have been able to answer your most urgent questions about the elections, but we are always open to further questions at stuve-sprat@fau.de.Have fun voting and a pleasant election week!

Best regards

FSIen-Liste

Dear students, we are the FSIen Liste.

We are non-partisan students at FAU and are constantly involved in various committees and FSIs.

As a list, we are committed to ensuring that our studies take place under the best possible conditions, with a focus on well-being at the university, good teaching and a strengthened community, in order to create an ideal environment for ALL.

Through our work in the FSIen, we have intensive contact with numerous students, which enables us to address your everyday needs in your studies.

We are committed to the sustainable development of our FAU, which requires uncomplicated digital processes, sustainable and eco-friendly building design, as well as ecologically valuable green spaces for recreation.

We want the wellbeing of all to be more of a priority at FAU, and to this end we are calling for Transparent processes that are geared towards the needs of students in order to make FAU accessible to everyone and to accompany them through their studies in the best possible way. Central to this is the consistent equality of all, flexibility in the design of studies, in order to realise studying with given obstacles in the best possible way. The stronger integration of international students at FAU should ensure that our campus becomes even more diverse.

Now it's up to you to help us work towards these goals in the Student Convention. You are our motivation to do our best for you!

Liberale Hochschulgruppe

(English version machine translated)
Dear Students, We as the Liberal University Group see the value of freedom as a compass for our politics. Freedom runs like a thread through our agenda. We will oppose any restrictions on food, on the choice of transportation to the university, or even on free research.

RCDS

We, the Ring Christian-Democratic Students Erlangen e.V., are a non-profit political university group. True to the Party & Politics motto, we organize seminars and events on political education as well as social evenings, parties and much more. In addition to our group events, there are also state events of the RCDS Bavaria several times a year, which are both strong in content and sociable. In this year's university election campaign, we are committed to an uncomplicated and rapid improvement in everyday life for students. Longer canteen opening hours, noticeable reduction in bureaucracy, especially when registering language skills, an improvement in StudOn and more free parking spaces are just a few of the topics that we are campaigning for this year. If you are interested in getting in touch with us directly, you can also find us every Tuesday during the semester at 8:00 p.m. in our premises in the Adenauer-Haus, Neue Straße 34, 91054 Erlangen. Friendship, dear students!

We as Juso HSG are a political university group open to students from all disciplines and united by our belief in the values of freedom, fairness and solidarity. This year we hope for your trust again. You can vote us into the FSV for the student council as well as for the ReWi, NatFak, PhilFak and TechFak, where we want to stand up for you and for good study conditions.

GES - Green. Ecological. Social

We are the GES (Green. Ecological. Social), the Green List running for the university elections in 2022. We stand for a sustainable development of the university with consideration of social justice. This means that we stand up for all people and their rights with a focus on improving social justice for the less privileged in society (e.g. women, queer or financially weaker people).

The climate crisis will affect our generation even more in later life. To counteract this, we must also make our contribution. This could be achieved at the university in various ways, for example by installing PV systems and LEDs or by expanding the public transport and cycling infrastructure. To improve social justice, we want free menstrual products in the toilets, an increase of all-gender toilets, a diversification of committees and anonymous assessment of exams/homework.

As students ourselves, we know the daily study routine can be very packed and that the reason for that can sometimes be out of our control. That's why we're campaigning for video recordings of every lecture, longer canteen opening hours(plus greater food variety) and a more flexible standard study period.

Recht auf Bildung in Pandemiezeiten

Hi there,

we, the group ›Right to Education in Times of Pandemic‹, have started in autumn 2021 as an initiative for a transparent and proper pandemic policy.

In the winter semester we advocated free tests at the university and developed various concepts for this. Later, we held weekly demonstrations on the Schlossplatz against the exclusion of non-vaccinated students from all university buildings, which was proactively introduced by FAU.

Not all of us were able to continue our studies in summer - pregnant women are still clearly disadvantaged and cannot attend courses on campus. Some medical students even had to pause their studies altogether or are still unable to continue because the rooms of the University Hospital are affected by the vaccination mandate.

We want to ensure equal access to education for all - regardless of the individual (booster-)vaccination status. One of our concerns here is not only an appropriate policy of measures in the future, but also the analysis of the restrictions during the past semesters.

In addition, we attach importance to the fact that the meetings of the ›Corona-Krisenstab‹ will be held in public in the future. Especially in times of crisis, transparency becomes an even more important asset and important decisions that affect the entire student body should not be made on the basis of secret meetings.
