November 9th, 2022

Dear students,

we hope you have arrived well in the new semester so far! The fall and the freshman parties are coming to an end, the days are getting shorter and colder as winter is approaching. But with that, the winter break as well as the Christmas markets and the obligatory Secret Santas near!

We as the Sprat are also fresh into the term. In the last mail we said goodbye to our "Altspratis" and now welcome our "Neuspratis" Ann-Sophie, Conrad, Lars, Moritz, and Sarah, as well as the existing Spratis Lara and Michael.

This winter, energy saving is a big issue because, among other things, prices are rising. Since the university is not exempt from this situation, we also appeal to you to be considerate with energy in the university. Also, a new wave of flu and corona will surely come upon us in the winter, which is why we ask everyone to be considerate of our fellow students and teachers and not to show up sick to lectures, also due to the omission of the mask duty.

What about you? Are you worried about the higher energy prices? How are you doing in terms of Covid? Feel free to give us feedback below in the Uni-Life-Wellbeing-Barometer.

Kind regards
Lars, Ann-Sophie, Michael und Lara
for the Speaker's Council

We look forward to and warmly welcome new faces!

PPS. A global pandemic, war, and an energy crisis hallmark the contemporary era. Please let us know how we can support you via our "Suggestion-Box".

Conrad
Hi,

I'm Conrad and I'm studying medical technology for my Bachelor's degree. After some time in the student representation of the Faculty of Technology, this is my first time in the Sprat and Senate. I really enjoy this work, because here you can discuss things that affect the whole university. That's exactly the kind of discussion I want to have for you all again this semester, so that the university becomes a good place for everyone.

Lars
Hi,

I am Lars and I have been studying at the FAU Faculty of Sciences for 5 Semesters now, starting during the wonderful year of 2020. I had my first contact with the Stuve after the University elections of 2022, where I was elected into the Student Council, and then 2nd. Chairperson of the Student Council and with that the youngest member of the current Sprat. I hope I can represent you well and can help you out with any issue you may encounter.

Lars Longerich (LL)

Moritz
Hello everyone,

I'm Moritz and I'm studying Digital Humanities for my Master's degree. Since this October I'm the chairperson of the Student Council and member of the Sprat. Like the year before I'm the speaker of the FSV-Phil as well. I'm really looking forward to continuing my engagement and I hope to be able to implement your interests.

To a successful tenure
Moritz Meckl

Sarah
Hi!

My name is Sarah and I have decided after my Bachelor studies together with the engagement at the TH Nuremberg to apply also as a Student Representative here at the FAU besides my Master studies in Computer Science. I am looking forward to contributing to the Student Parliament, the same as the General Student Committee to improve a lot.

Lara
Hello all,

I hope the first couple of weeks back have treated you well and that you've had the opportunity to get out, enjoy the odd party, a glass of bubbles or bier and a good 'ol dance. Thank you for your collective vote of confidence! I am back for a 2. Term in office as Student Senator and a member of the Speakers Council, Student Parliament, Covid Crisis Team and Faculty Representation. I can't wait to meet all of you! Stay strong ♡︎

Your Lara

Error cancelling exam registration on campo
If you have tried to deregister from a (first) exam in the last few months, you should now check if this really happened or if you got a failed attempt entered instead. Until recently, when you deregistered from an exam at campo, the “Cancel registration” button of the privacy policy canceled the deregistration attempt instead of confirming the deregistration. If you tried to deregister from the exam via this button according to the exam regulations, check if you were actually deregistered or if a failed attempt was entered for you. Read more...

To value teaching, the FAU awards one junior scientist per faculty a prize for teaching. Additionally, the Bavarian Ministry of Science, Research and Art awards two lecturers at the FAU a prize for good teaching.

We as Students can make suggestions of lecturers to our deans of studies, who we think taught well and innovatively so that they have a greater chance of being recognized for their effort. Read more...

On Nov. 17th, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., FAU Career Services will host a digital workshop on sexual diversity in the workplace.

Sexual diversity does not end at the boundaries of the private sphere. But what relevance does it have, especially in professional life? What challenges should I expect? How do I structure my everyday working life so that I feel comfortable and am able to perform? What goals are worth striving for in my professional life? These are just a few of the questions that will be discussed in the webinar. The focus will be on discussing your own experiences, wishes and fears, and learning from each other.

Demonstration: Stop patriarchal violence!
Patriarchal violence is a brutal and everyday reality: every third day a man murders his (ex-) partner (so-called femicide). On 20.11., the Trans Day of Remembrance is celebrated annually, on which all victims of transphobic violence are commemorated worldwide. Over 95% of women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people (WLINTA for short) have experienced sexual harassment. Patriarchal violence limits and threatens the lives of WLINTA on a daily basis: let’s take to the streets together against this on the day against violence against women and queers! Let’s be loud together!

The demonstration will start on the 25th of November at 5:30 pm at Beşiktaş-Platz in Erlangen and will move through the city centre. Immediately afterwards, we would like to invite you to the Zentrum Wiesengrund for Vefa (Vegan Food for All), drinks and concert and lots of talks and networking. Read more...
