March 08th, 2023

Hello everyone,

The winter semester is coming to an end and we hope you have all made it through the exams well so far. In one week it will (hopefully) be time to claim your €200 student relief. In this newsletter you can find out more about this and what will happen to the Semesterticket in the summer semester when the Deutschlandticket is introduced.

As some of you know, today is Feminist Fight Day, also known as International Women's Day. For this we have put together a small summary of events around FAU, Erlangen and Nuremberg in this newsletter (in which we also talk about the new name).

In addition, under "News from the Stuve" you can find out what else has been occupying us as student representatives in the last few weeks. Among other things, you will find interesting information about the cafeterias, which may be of particular interest to people suffering from allergies.

Kind regards
Büşra, Ann-Sophie und Lars
for the Student Representation

News from the Stuve

After months of uncertainty and lengthy negotiations with the VGN on the subject of the Deutschlandticket as a semester ticket and regular updates, the Semesterticket working group can finally report concrete results. As of May, the additional ticket will be "convertible" into a Deutschlandticket free of charge, which will be accompanied by some changes in the availability of the ticket. You can read more about this in the article on the Semesterticket.

There is good news for students with food intolerances, who often go empty-handed to the canteen. The Speaker's Council has discussed various issues with the Studierendenwerk and found out that they are welcome to contact the canteen staff in such situations to get an individual solution/meal. After long negotiations, the AK Semesterticket has now reached a final status for the implementation of the semester ticket in the summer semester under the new Deutschlandticket for 49€ starting in May. You can find everything important summarized here, or in more detail in the FAQs of the VGN and from the AK Semesterticket. During the first week of lectures of the summer semester, the AK and the VGN will have additional information booths to explain the new regulations. Information about the 200€ energy price allowance at FAU

The energy price allowance for us students is finally just around the corner - but unfortunately hidden behind a lot of bureaucracy. So that you can still keep track of things and be prepared when the starting signal is given, we have summarized the most important information for you here. We will address the following questions:

- What requirements do I have to fulfill?

- What can I already prepare for the application?

- When will we get the codes for the application?

- Where can I get the codes for the application?

From this, however, the most important information for you: Basically, you do not need to do anything until you receive a circular email from FAU on the subject. Read more...

AG Medizin & Menschenrechte is looking for student interpreters

We at AG Medizin & Menschenrechte support people who have no papers or no access to medical care due to homelessness by providing them with contacts to doctors, making appointments for them or even accompanying them to their appointments. Since we also work a lot with people who come from different countries in this context, communication is sometimes a bit difficult. Especially when it comes to describing or explaining medical problems. For this reason we are looking for students who have foreign language skills and ideally also medical knowledge from their studies. First, we are simply looking for potential contact persons for different languages, in case we care for people who need medical help and speak one of these languages. Read more...

March 8th - Feminist Fight Day

Since today's Stuve newsletter is arriving on a very special day - Feminist Fight Day - we'd like to take this opportunity to highlight some of the many events around FAU, Erlangen and Nuremberg that are raising awareness about equal rights for FLINTA* people. Many of you might also know March 8th as International Women's Day. However, more and more people are moving away from this name in order to get away from the usual interpretation of an "honoring day" where there are only flowers instead of social change. The name is also becoming more inclusive of broader facets of gender identities.
