June 14th, 2023

Dear students,

The Bergkirchweih is over, the barrel is buried and the traditional clothing is stowed away again in the depths of the closet until next year the "Berch calls" again. After 12 days of hustle and bustle, it's time to get serious again and start studying for exams. If not yet announced by the lecturers, you can find out when your exams are at campo.fau.de. Here you can also register for your exams until Sunday, 18th June 2023, 11:59 pm.

After that, however, we can go back to the topic of events: many of the summer parties from the last newsletter are still coming up and are listed again (with some corrections) in this mail. Also the university elections are coming up and you are asked to become active again.

Also, in this mail, we want to delve a bit into some meta matters of the newsletter. There is an invitation to the working group that deals with the creation of the newsletter, a suitable survey about your receiving devices and we would like to explain a little bit how said surveys work. The latter was inspired by a somewhat concerned email after the last newsletter about whether some of the choices wouldn't be counted if they didn't lead directly to the "Thanks for your feedback" page on our website. But we want to reassure everyone who shares this concern - just peek into the article at the bottom of the section "News".

Best of regards,
Büşra und Lasvini
for the Student Representation

Stuve-Newsletter - Participate now!

Have you ever wondered how this mail actually gets created? Are you interested in taking a peek, or do you have some ideas on how to make the mail even better? Or would you like to work on your writing or programming skills?

Then the AK Stuve-Newsletter is the right place for you! We get together once a month depending on our capacities and collect topics, write, and tinker on mails that regularly provide up to 40,000 students with the latest information and most important dates at the university. We urgently need new recruits - whether for new ideas, collaboration, test reading, or the technical implementation via HTML/MJML.

Does this topic appeal to you? Then check out our Telegram group for the coordination of the mail and take a look at the preparation meeting of one of the next newsletters. The whole thing is noncommittal and you can always put in more or less work - we're just happy to see some new faces! To the group...

News from the Stuve

In the last month, a lot has happened here. On 20.06. the university elections begin, in which you can elect your representatives for the next year. You will receive an email with further information before the election.

The discussion about the abolition of exam attempt restriction is also progressing, and the first committees in various faculties have already made positive recommendations.

The Student Council decided at its last meeting that the ordinary semester ticket will not be continued for the winter semester, the contract will be suspended for the time to come.

Due to a rewrite of the support criteria, some university groups are currently losing their status as a Supported University Group. This revision and its effects will be discussed again in the Student Council. Read more...

Stuve-Newsletter behind the scenes - evaluation of the surveys

The polls, which you can find at the end of our newsletters, are a great tool to find out the general mood of our students on different topics. The number of votes is not counted on the website, but via our shortlink system "stuve.me" - so a simple click on the respective button is enough to be counted.

For example, in the survey on diversity and awareness-raising in the last mail, "Yes, the topic is important to me" received almost 60 clicks, while "No, not my cup of tea" received about 50.

The participation in the FAU-St survey was particularly high (with over 200 clicks) for "Don't see the point". We find this particularly unfortunate, as we would like to use the results of the Student Representation questions, for example, to better advocate for you. Please take a little more time, because very important conclusions for the development of studies at FAU can also be drawn from the topics of wellbeing and studyability!

Rate your studies - FAU-St 2023

Until 18 June, you have the opportunity to tell us about your experiences with various aspects of your studies in the FAU student survey. For example, questions focus on the your satisfaction with your studies and your experiences with the advice and service structures at FAU as well as other services offered by various institutions. The student council also contributed questions about student interests. The results will be used to help to further develop the studies at FAU. Your individual invitation link was sent to your FAU mailbox (sender: evaluation@fau.de). As a thank you, we conduct a prize draw with 20 vouchers worth 25 euros.
