September 13th, 2023

Dear students,

for the last time this semester, we will provide you with the latest information from the student representation and the world around it. Hopefully you also had a bit of free time for things outside of exams and Summer Schools during the world's hottest summer "ever".

As you can see below in the evaluated survey from the last mail, many of you have not yet applied for your €200 one-off payment. If it has simply passed you by, you will find all the information you need in this email. You still have until 30 September to do so.

The very next day, the discounted Deutschland-Ticket for students will start for only 29€ in a smooth transition. We campaigned very hard for this last year! Important information about the purchase and what exactly has changed compared to the semester ticket can be found in the newsletter and the FAQ of our AK Semesterticket.

From October onwards, the Stuve Newsletter will be supported by the new Speakers of the Stuve, who will introduce themselves in the next email. Unfortunately, we also have to say goodbye to two of our student representatives, who will look back on their work here in this email. We wish them all the best!

Best of regards,
Büşra and Christian
for the Student Representation

PS. Feel free to reach out via mail at stuve-sprat@fau.de! The Speaker's Council usually regularly meets on Monday evenings online via Zoom or in the House of Student Representatives (Turnstraße 7). Please contact us for more information or changes in the planning if you want to come by. We look forward to and warmly welcome new faces!

PPS. A global pandemic, war, and an energy crisis hallmark the contemporary era. Please let us know how we can support you via our "Suggestion-Box".

News from the Stuve

Even though the focus is currently on the organization of the first semester welcomes and the conclusion of this year's term, there have been a few topics in recent months, such as the exchange with various status groups and the Lord Mayor on the situation at the Bürgermeistersteg during the Bergkirchweih, the construction talk that takes place every semester, as well as participation in the handover of the keys to the Siemens Campus and a meeting with the former Lord Mayor and President of the Unibund Siegfried Balleis.Read more...

Launch of the 29€ ticket on 01.10.2023

After having the most expensive semester ticket in Germany for a long time, we campaigned and fought hard for the 29€ ticket. Now the time has finally come! The discounted Deutschland-Ticket has been available since this week and will be valid from 01 October. But how exactly do you get it and what are the plans for the future? You can find the answers here.Read more...

Survey evaluation: 200€ one-off payment

According to the Federal Government, 75% of the students who were entitled to the 200€ one-off payment had already applied for it on 17 August. We have evaluated the survey from the last newsletter for you, in which you were able to report your processing status, and would like to go into more detail about these results.
In our survey, 85% of the participants had already applied for the one-off payment by 11 September, although the sample here is of course much smaller than in the government's statistics. The need for further information is mainly evident from the other options.
For example, just under 2% of the votes stated that the application did not work out for them. In this case, we would like to refer you to the contact options for the one-off payment, which - as long as it has not failed due to a lack of eligibility to apply - can help with most problems.

At the same time, just over 2% seemed not to have heard of the one-off payment at all. For these students and the other 7% of votes who had "(not) yet" applied for it at that time, there is the official Q&A on the one-off payment, where all possible questions about the process and eligibility are clarified.

The 4% of votes that are apparently not eligible are, of course, a great pity. But here at least the hope remains for future formats like the 29€ ticket, with which more students can be covered by such subsidies.

Farewell from the Speaker's Council

Some members of the Speaker's Council will end their terms of office this September. Before the newly elected and re-elected members introduce themselves in the next newsletter, they will have the opportunity to say goodbye and look back on their term(s) in office.
Lara Ebbinghaus

As the academic year draws to a close, so does the 22/23 term in office. That means that my time has come to retire and officially say goodbye.

In the past two years, I have had the pleasure of representing you as a student member of the Senate and the University Council, as well as the Speaker's Council and the Convention. During this time, we have observed our university undergo constant change - those which we have welcomed and which we have not.

I would like to explicitly thank all the great people which I have had the pleasure of working with throughout my time as student representative. I wish my successors courage and endurance, but also a zest for life and the ability to find joy in their work.

With kind regards, Lara

Conrad Schröder

Dear students,

my first term in elected office without any major COVID-19 restrictions has now come to an end, and so has my time as a student senator. After the initial difficulties, we really got a lot going this last year: numerous festivals, special meetings, and many projects for us students. All of this would not have been possible without the numerous and intensive cooperation of all the people in the Stuve. This has also meant that we have been able to achieve a lot and, above all, lay a foundation for future generations.

Being part of the Stuve has filled me with pride, but also humility towards the responsibility that one bears here. For sure I will always have the Stuve in my mind and I am not completely out of the world yet. I'm sure I'll see you at Dies Academicus or parties like TechFak goes Downtown!

Until then, all the best, Conrad
