Dear fellow students,

The snow has melted again and given way to rain. Although it feels more like autumn at the moment, the new year is fast approaching.

In this newsletter, we want to give you an insight into what has happened since the last Stuve News and, of course, as always, tell you about events that we think might be of interest to you.

A little further down, we also have a recipe for you to sweeten the time between the years a little.

News from the Stuve

The winter semester is in full swing and the Stuve has also arrived in the middle of the Christmas period. Many resolutions were discussed and passed at the Convention meeting in November. For example, we adopted a position on the constituted student body, which was abolished in Bavaria in 1973, or that the login on the Stuve website should be made even more secure in future. Review Assembly of all students 2023

On 8 November, a meeting of all students (VaS) was called for the first time in a long time. To give everyone who was unable to attend an impression of what was discussed, we will summarise it here. Of course, we will also give you a small impression of what we have already been able to achieve.

In memory of the constituted student body - 50 years of fewer paeticipation rights

It was 50 years ago. On 21 December 1973, the dissolution of the constituted student body (VS) was decided in Bavaria. The aim at the time was to "drain the left-wing swamp at the universities". What was achieved was a cut in the rights and possibilities of student representation.

No lectures until January 7th

Recipe for vanilla crescents

Delicious cookies for the Christmas season

What you need for this:

For the dough:

250 g flour
210 g margarine
100 g almonds, ground
80 g sugar
2 sachets vanilla sugar

To turn in:

2 sachets of vanilla sugar
1/4 - 1/2 sachet icing sugar

Preparation:

Combine the ingredients for the dough and knead well. Then place in cling film in the fridge for 30 minutes. While waiting, mix the vanilla sugar with the icing sugar. After 30 minutes, shape into medium-sized crescents and place on a baking tray. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees fan. Bake the vanilla crescents for approx. 10-15 minutes. Then leave to cool for 3 minutes and turn them in the vanilla icing sugar mixture while still warm.

On December 10, 2023, Human Rights Day commemorates its 75th anniversary. In celebration of this occasion, the Working Group on Medicine and Human Rights invites you to a lecture evening on January 16, 2024, to critically examine the state of human rights globally and in our region, while highlighting existing issues.

Web relaunch of FAU

Dear students, In March 2023, the university management decided to carry out a web relaunch. We are currently in the preparation phase for the tender and would therefore like to ask as many target groups as possible about their needs, expectations and wishes.

Students are one of the main user groups of the website, which is why they play a particularly important role. We have therefore prepared a survey where you can share your thoughts with the project management team. Simply grab a notepad (or several) and describe your input on the Miro board in bullet points. With the Bavaria-wide BayCode initiative, we want young people (aged between 11 and 18) to have fun with technology and give them their first programming skills. In three-hour hackathons they develop their first project under supervision. We are looking for volunteer trainers! Read more...
