News from the Stuve
05/2024
Everything from committees & working groups of the Stuve to FSIs & university groups
Editor: Christian Peppel
The Stuve likes trains - there is simply no other explanation for the recent actions on the subject of the Stadt-Umland-Bahn. The Department of Mobility, together with other stakeholders in the alliance WIR PRO StUB, has been involved in many initiatives to promote and raise awareness of the currently largest planned tram project in Germany. There will certainly be more to follow. As the final vote on June 9 is already within reach, we are providing you with all the information you need in this issue of the newsletter. Don't forget the postal voting options. After we successfully fought for the €29 ticket, the construction of the StUB is the next important step towards affordable and environmentally friendly mobility.
Apart from that, there is a lot more going on at the Stuve. The Department of Political Education is planning to be re-established just in time for the upcoming European elections; you can find out more about this in the corresponding article. We can also inform you from Ref IT that from 01.06. all Stuve pads that have not been edited for 2 years will be erased. So make sure you keep an eye on your notes. Ref IT also has something new for explorers in the form of StuveNotes.
In addition, the first summer parties at FAU are coming up in the next few weeks, so be sure to check your social media to make sure you don't miss any. However, the biggest event in Erlangen is and remains the Berg, which starts on May 16 with the first tapping and then takes over a large part of the city for almost two weeks.
However, the biggest event in Erlangen is and remains the Berg, which starts on May 16th with the tapping and will then attract a large part of the city's population for almost two weeks. We would like to take this opportunity to call on you to look out for each other. Regardless of whether someone in your group has had too much to drink or simply feels unwell, everyone is happy to have attentive support in a situation like this. In addition, the Safe Space office also has an excellent team on site to support visitors to the Bergkirchweih in problematic situations.
We hope you find the time to enjoy the current weather a little and visit one or two events. If you still need inspiration, we can only recommend that you browse through the schedule in this email, as there are some cool events taking place over the next few weeks.
Protest against the gender ban
The gender ban imposed by the Bavarian state government is still active, and so is our protest against it. The “Aktionskreis gegen das Genderverbot” is organizing a demonstration today, on 15. May 2024 to make the now linguistically invisible visible again. The demonstration will start at 16:00 at the Weißer Turm in Nuremberg, the final event will take place at the Wöhrder Wiese. Join us and everyone else on the road and show solidarity with everyone for a colourful and open reality.
You can get all the information you need on the action group's Instagram channel. Together for gender-inclusive language!
New reporting point for events with an unfair cost-to-ECTS ratio
Have you ever taken part in a course that was much more time-consuming compared to other modules with the same amount of ECTS? Or have you even dropped out of a course because it wasn't worth it for the amount of ECTS awarded? We are now looking for exactly these examples on a university-wide level!
Our university, like all others, is obliged to evaluate courses according to their effort. One ECTS point, including preparation and follow-up work, should correspond to approx. 25-30 hours of work. However, since problematic deviations from this measure tend to slip through our fingers, we now need your help via our new contact form. Tell us about your experiences and share this source with your fellow students!
University Elections are coming
Every year in June, students (and doctoral candidates) elect their female representatives at FAU. The lists of candidates have already been submitted, and the election campaign will soon get moving. You still have time to apply for your postal voting documents via the FAU election portal until 22.05. at 16:00, or you can simply take part in the online election. There you can cast your votes simply and easily from 12.06. to 19.06. at 9:00 am.
We will of course provide you with all the information about the university-wide candidates via our Instagram and the newsletter. You can find a complete overview on our website or the website of the electoral office.
At this point we would also like to mention again that you can receive confirmation from the Electoral Office for elected offices in the Central University Administration, simply write an email to the Electoral Office with the office title and term of office.
