(New) funding opportunities for good teaching
With the loss of QuiS II funding from the Bavarian government, many useful projects in the student advisory service and elsewhere could not be continued. Unfortunately, it was also not possible for the university itself to take over the funding. In response to our inquiry as to whether it is foreseeable that there could be a similar continuation of funding in Bavaria as has been successful in other federal states, we were unfortunately disappointed.
Compensation for work in university self-administration
For several semesters now, we have been campaigning for student participation in FAU's administrative bodies to be better valued and remunerated. Initial ideas, such as official certificates for elected members of student representatives, have been well received by students, but our demands go beyond this. The fact that we have to carry out the mandatory work in the university administration on various committees, appointment committees, and study program committees in our free time should not be the standard. Added to this is the incomparably greater effort required to prepare such meetings.
Here we can at least very cautiously report a small success. The university management will meet with us for a follow-up discussion on this topic in order to pursue it further outside of the semester meeting cycle. We students perform an important, irreplaceable bridging function in many areas of the university, which must finally be duly acknowledged.
Reorganization of the distribution of the remaining funds for study grants
At the university level, the unused remaining funds are currently allocated by the university management. We do not consider the mechanism integrated into the Central Committee for Study Grants, in which measures are prioritized by us, to be sufficient. Students should be involved in the distribution of unclaimed remaining funds and be allowed to decide for themselves how to allocate their funds depending on the situation. Unfortunately, we were not able to get our way on the first attempt, but we will continue to press ahead with the issue.
