Dear students,

It's that time again! The university elections have started. In this unscheduled newsletter we want to give you all the info you need about the election so you can make the most of your vote.

Why should you even vote? Of course, a large turnout makes sense in order to best represent the diverse opinions of the student body in the committees. However, there is another important reason; the higher the voter turnout, the more it shows the university that students really want to be heard and that the student representation (Stuve) should be taken seriously. Each and every one of you can thus play a part in strengthening the voice of the student body!

But what exactly are you voting for? The Student Council is a university-wide body in which 30 students develop positions in order to be able to communicate the opinions and demands of the student body to the outside world. Here you have 15 votes to elect people who can best represent your opinion in this body. In another election, you have 4 votes to elect students to the Faculty Council, where they can campaign for student-friendly examination regulations, for example. With these 4 votes you also indirectly determine the composition of the Faculty Student Council, which represents you at the faculty level by helping students with their requests, managing funds and organizing the occasional event. You can find out more about the committees in the election video (see further below).

University Elections '25
How exactly can you elect? You can do that from Wednesday 04.06. until Thursday 12.06. at 09:00 online via online-wahlen.fau.de. Besides the better accessibility the election tool of the university also offers the advantage of giving you warnings in case you cast too many votes and thus might have invalidated your vote. You can then easily correct this and send your vote with a simple click.

And who should you vote for? That's a question we can't answer for you. However, we have provided a few tools to make it easier for you to research the election lists. First, you'll find plenty of insight and information about the lists that would like to be elected to the Student Council on our website and Instagram during the election period. In addition, you can use the University Election Compass again to compare your opinions on various issues with those of the Student Council lists and learn their motivations for doing so. Last but not least, we would like to introduce the lists to you in more detail in the next section.

We hope we have been able to answer your most urgent questions about the elections, but we are always open to further questions at stuve-sprat@fau.de. Have fun voting and a pleasant election week!

Best regards,
the election coordination of the Student Representation

List introduction

Below you can find information on the lists that would like to be elected to the Student Council in the next term of office. A total of 5 lists are running in the university elections. All those who have sent us material on request and have agreed to the election agreement are listed below.

FSIen-Liste

Dear students, we are the FSIen-Liste. We are independent of political parties, already involved in a wide variety of FSIs and are committed to high-quality and studyable studies for ALL. We stand for the sustainable development of our FAU, for diversity and well-being, good teaching and a strong community. We are here for you!

Juso x Grüne Liste

We fight for a solidary, just and sustainable FAU! As Juso x Grüne List we stand for: colorful, social, ecological. We demand real democracy, social justice, climate neutrality and anti-discrimination. Our core goals: more learning spaces, free menstrual products and ecological transformation.

Die Linke.SDS

We at Die Linke. SDS are campaigning for better study conditions: against dilapidated university buildings, exploding rents in Erlangen and for genuine student co-determination. Student representatives in Bavaria have very few co-determination rights. That’s why it has to be all the louder. Education must not be a luxury.

Joining the student representation

Newly elected or curious? Then we have the perfect event for you. On 09.07.2025 there will be an introductory event on the various committees at the Innovation Center Erlangen (Henkestraße 127, 91052 Erlangen). Many tasks and committees within the student representation can also be carried out without a mandate obtained in the university election. There are also a large number of departments and working groups in which anyone who is interested can participate. You will receive detailed information about the event via the usual channels as soon as possible.
