Assembly Summer 2014

vas_sose_2014_flyer_vorneOn Wednesday, May 14, 2014, the Student General Assembly took place at 6 pm c.t. in the Audimax. The topics were::

  • Master studies in Englisch: Malicious tongues claim that internationalization at FAU is limited to the creation and improvement of exchange opportunities (e.g. semesters abroad) for students. The promotion of English-language teaching content, such as English-language modules in the Master’s degree or a Master’s degree completely in English, is left by the wayside. More and more students, however, want more English-language modules in their Master’s degree. Does the internationalisation of the university really work as desired or is the offer just not taken up? This question should be clarified at the general assembly and above all the opinion of the students should be heard. The student representatives can then support this and, for example, push for the expansion of the English-language courses on offer.
  • Theater-Flat*: Some time ago there was a discussion in the students’ council whether or not to support the idea of a “Theater-Flat”. The “Theater-Flat” provides that the student union fee (currently 42 Euro) should be increased by three Euro and in return all enrolled students have the opportunity to visit theatres in Erlangen, Nuremberg and Fürth free of charge with their FAUCard. The student assembly should clarify how the student representatives should stand by this idea. *(Note: So far the Theater-Flat is only an idea. There are no concrete negotiations or something)

Afterwards, various university groups introduced themselves in the foyer of the Audimax.
