Invitation to our job fair!

How do I handle my body disability in my application? Which possibilities are existing in and out of FAU for helping and providing advices? Which rights do I have while transition to labour market and at labour itself? How can I build a helpful network?

Those questions get answered in our online event „Studium und dann? Berufseinstieg mit Beeinträchtigung“ at 08th November at 09:00 AM.
At the beginning FAU-internal as well as extern partners will provide helpful information about the transition to labour market as an disabled student. Afterwards different employers from Nuremberg and the region nearby will present their companies. After a short break the students can meet in separate meeting rooms with each employer for asking their indiviudal questions.
The target group are students as well as postgraduates who are disabled or interested in the topic.

The event is for free. The registration must be done until 27th October at following link: https://www.studon.fau.de/crs4670835.html

In a relaxed atmosphere, the Zoom chat on 21 October at 4 p.m. will provide a digital space for networking and exchanging tips and tricks about studying with disabilities. The chat takes place regularly on every 2nd Friday. Friendly cities in enemy states? Erlangen/Wladimir

Talk & Discussion, 26.10.2022 7:30 PM, trade union office (Friedrichstraße 7)

In times of the Cold War, Erlangen started a partnership with the Russian city of Wladimir to promote peace and understanding. This was not always easy but at times very successfull: hundreds of citizens came to visit the other town and there were countless cooperations between people and organisations. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine the partnership was questioned, yet Erlangen’s people and city council have decided to stand by it. We have invited two activists who have been involved from the beginning to tell us about the history and future perspective of the partnership.

The talk will be held in German.

MEET OTHER INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS -PLAY SOME GAMES

We are working on a project through our Master’s program “Physical Activity and Health” that will bring international students together by giving them opportunities to move together! We have seen that it is difficult for international students arriving in Germany to get involved in outdoor and group activities.

We have planned an event where students can play some games together, get to know one another, and make quality connections. We will provide all the equipment and host the event. We would like to have the event outside but also have a gym reserved in case of bad weather. We also have hiking and biking resources for them to help them get started with those activities in Erlangen.

Our first event will be October 22nd. We will also have one other event this semester and one event next semester. The events are technically aimed at students, but international faculty, researchers, etc., are more than welcome!
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22
2PM

Gebbertstraße 123B
91058 Erlangen

Outdoors or inside the gym (weather permitting)
Wear comfortable shoes ☺

Army in school?! What can be done against them?

Army in the classroom – How the Bundeswehr advertises in schools and what can be done against it
“Do what really counts” – this is the motto used by the German army to win the favor of young people.
With the 100 billion euro rearmament program for the Bundeswehr, it also needs more and more soldiers to operate the newly purchased weapons – students in particular are the “targets” of the army recruiters:
The Bundeswehr even has a fixed cooperation agreement with the Bavarian Ministry of Education. The lectures by youth officers at schools are intended to convince young people of the army and the expansive foreign and security policy of the German government. Career advisors then recruit the students directly for service with weapons during class trips – the Bundeswehr accepts 17-year-olds into their ranks and trains them with weapons.
The army is also trying to become the topic of school break conversations with its own YouTube commercials. But shouldn’t young people be educated in non-violent conflict resolution and peaceful coexistence?
The lecture takes a critical look at the Bundeswehr’s “advertising campaign”, explains the background and makes suggestions as to how the army advertising can be countered. There is then room for an (maybe) controversial discussion.

Our speaker Michael Schulze von Glaßer (*1986) is a political scientist (M.A.), advisor to the “Militarization Information Center”, political director of the “German Peace Society – United War Service Opponents” and has written several books on army advertising

The lecture will take place in the Nachbarschaftshaus Gostenhof
Adam-Klein-Straße 6, Nürnberg
10.10.2022
6:30 p.m.

The lecture will be in German language

Organized by the GEW Studis FAU and the trade union for Education and Science Mittelfranke
