In times of the Cold War, Erlangen started a partnership with the Russian city of Wladimir to promote peace and understanding. This was not always easy but at times very successfull: hundreds of citizens came to visit the other town and there were countless cooperations between people and organisations. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine the partnership was questioned, yet Erlangen’s people and city council have decided to stand by it. We have invited two activists who have been involved from the beginning to tell us about the history and future perspective of the partnership.
